Positano, April 29th 2017
On April 29th we had the pleasure of photographing Adriana and Justin in Positano. The wedding venue was the distinctive Hotel Marincanto, an 18th century villa located in an area of Positano the locals call "The Shore". The rich vegetation, plants, flowers and stunning views as if suspended between sky and sea provided a romantic backdrop to the whole occasion.
In the lead-up to the wedding we studied as usual the self portraits the couple had given us so we could better construct a photographic story for them. The couple are best summed up in the words of Adriana:
"Neither of us will ever grow up, so I think part of what made our first date and every subsequent date so magical is that somehow this terrible world hasn't made us lose our inner child; our sense of wonder, imagination and ability to thrive in the miracle of being alive together, in the same place, at the same timewith so much to love and experience."
Finally a tribute to one of their favourite authors John Steinbeck writing about love:
"There are several kinds of love. One is a selfish, mean, grasping egotistical thingwhich uses love for self-importance. This is the ugly and crippling kind. The other is an outpouringof everything good in you- of kindness, consideration and respect- not only the social respectof manners but the greater respect which is recognition of another person as unique and valuable. The first kind can make you sick and small and weak but the second can release in you strength, courage and goodness and even wisdom you didn't know you had."
