The summer is Amalfi’s high season. And with good reason: the Tyrrhenian Sea is sparkling, stark blue, and beckoning, the temperatures in the high eighties, and the citrus groves plump with lemons. Add to that the resplendent, unparalleled views the grand Belmond Hotel Caruso has in abundance and you can begin to get a hint of why Latoya & Stuart’s intimate Belmond Hotel Caruso wedding is the stuff dreams are made of.
It may have begun with a little bit of daydreaming, like the chance to enjoy breakfasts on a sky-high terrace, for walks in gardens and flower-filled trellises colorfully contrasting with the blue sea, but Belmond Hotel Caruso comes with more beautiful secrets, the immaculate vistas of Capri, the exquisite rooms adorned with antiques, trompe l’oeil murals, and old-master paintings and the most incredible infinity pool you’ve ever witnessed. The hotel that is a confirmed synonym for exclusivity and refinement was supported by the boom and the legend of the “dolce vita”, as it has been welcoming incredible figures for centuries. From Humphrey Bogart to Greta Garbo, Gina Lollobrigida, and Dustin Hoffman, the seductive landscapes even sparked one of the century’s most famous romances: Jackie Kennedy and Giovanni Agnelli. You can tell why for Latoya and Stuart tying the knot where the Baroque angels sleep was a dream come true.
Early on the day of the wedding at Villa Cimbrone Latoya’s preps began laden with pretty, in the cutest bridesmaid and bride silk monogrammed pajamas. Latoya’s, of course, featured the LS. Soon as our bride was all prepped up with the help of Lalain Axalan and her team, she slipped into her MadeWithLoveBridal gown and sleek Jimmy Choos and we let her bridesmaids get ready, whisking her away into the gardens for some beautiful portraits. She was soon followed by her mom (you can easily tell that style and beauty runs in the family) and her squad. Is there any black-tie groom who hasn’t swiveled towards his shaving mirror in emulation of cinema’s most iconic title sequence – accompanied, ideally, by the ding-d’ding-ding of Mr. Monty Norman’s theme? We headed back to Belmond Hotel Caruso where the rhododendrons operatically bloom to find Stuart and his lads preparing, Stuart in a custom-tailored TM Levin, a nod to the dapper days of the 1930s.
Between groom and groomsmen portraits Mr. Raf, The Amalfi Coast Wedding Planner along with Francesco di Bianco, The Amalfi Coast Florist, set an all-white elegant dinner and ceremony scene in the gardens and welcomed the couple’s first guests with string quartet suites and cocktail music. Latoya and Stuart exchanged their vows in front of an impressive arch soaked in white snapdragons and we promise you haven’t seen a cuter bride feeling so excited and filled with happy anticipation. After the couple walked the walk as Mr. and Mrs cocktail hour rolled by easy in beautiful tunes, vino and bubbly and right after family and group portraits it was time for Stuart and Latoya to spend some alone time in the privacy of the Belmond Hotel Caruso as husband and wife. From every beautiful corner of the gardens to the Strada commanding epic views to the Tyrrhenian sea, to the hotel’s iconic yard, climbing vine pergolas and infinity pool perfectly mirroring the mountains above, there was love, kisses and an epic Alfa Romeo Spider ride around! When everyone took their places at dinner the couple’s bridesmaids and their groomsmen escorts hailed Latoya and Stuart’s grand entrance and speeches began, followed by a dinner among the manicured trees. The magical atmosphere and the happy laughs grew when it was time to cut the cake for which Stuart carried his bride in his arms. Dancing and partying topped this wonderful cake of a celebration and right before we left we couldn’t resist one more snap of Latoya’s mom, reading at her children’s wishbook and gazing at them in teary joy!
