The tradition of throwing rice at the bride and groom as they leave the church or town hall is a very important ritual originating from China.
This tradition symbolises the riches and abundance that relatives and friends wish for the new family that has just been created.
In place of boxes of rice bought in shops, it’s preferable to prepare little bags or containers full of rice to be distributed to the guests present. Preparing rice bags isn’t difficult and can be a fun. This task is usually given to sisters, cousins or close friends of the bride and groom.
A san alternative to rice, some people prefer to throw streamers or confetti or to blow soap bubbles; rose petals are much more choreographic and are definitely less annoying for the bride and groom.
